From Original Research to Journal Strategy
These projects reflect my experience in scientific publishing as an editor, researcher, and author. At BMC Medicine (Nature Portfolio), that work spanned journal strategy, editorial management, and writing. Together, they show the editorial perspective behind the Pre-Submission Assessment.
Strategic Journal Development & Management of Special Article Collections
As a scientific editor at BMC Medicine, I conceptualized and managed special collections of articles on current medical questions to position the journal strategically within the publishing landscape. These included topics such as pregnancy health, endometriosis, and neurodevelopmental disorders.
I worked closely with leading researchers and healthcare professionals to define the scope of each collection and assess biomedical and public health manuscripts for their fit. I managed the peer-review and publication process, oversaw the communication of findings through editorial articles, and guided the writing and publication of those editorials as editorial lead.
For a collection on maternal health factors during pregnancy, four leading researchers and clinicians published two editorials together. Read what two of those contributors, Dr. Louis J. Muglia and Prof. Stephen Tong, say about our collaboration.

Editorials Published With BMC Medicine
I have worked as a writer and editor on editorials published in BMC Medicine.
My focus areas included gynecology and obstetrics, pediatrics, gastroenterology, and public health. After attending scientific and medical conferences on these topics, I often served as lead author for editorials on women’s health.
I also supported other lead authors, including thought leaders writing on the responsible use of AI in academic writing, by offering editorial suggestions to strengthen their communication.

Scientific Publications & Collaborations
I have worked on specialized and interdisciplinary research projects in the natural sciences. During my master’s and PhD studies in chemistry, I published research findings in American Chemical Society (ACS) journals as first author and as part of collaborative teams. As a medical writer in clinical research, I wrote and revised clinical study reports for regulatory submissions and prepared scientific communications about clinical trial results.
As my work has expanded into research informing clinical practice, public health, or health policy, my understanding of the publication process as an author continues to shape the editorial perspective I bring to every manuscript assessment.
